Troy’s Vision for Our Communities
“Regardless of our varying obstacles and perspectives, the idea that all people are created equal, supported by their own set of beliefs that help form our democracy still thrives with vibrancy in this country. That’s the best part of this land, we differ in beliefs, but yet, we still remain resilient and courageous in our application of freedom, and our pursuance on the everlasting journey for justice for all.”
Troy Crittendon
To promote a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Troy understands that the application of diversity and inclusion is so critical to the development of our communities. Diverse people groups ensure a variety of opinions, perspectives, and dynamics that help inform our decisions and communications. While diversity and inclusion are integral to community development, it is integral for ourselves as well, allowing for the careful and conscious integration of varying perspectives to transform our perspectives and interactions in the world.
To encourage community service for those in-need.
Troy understands that communities are only as strong as their weakest link, therefore it is imperative that he advocates for those who have less and work to bring those at the bottom, higher. He also knows that one of the best ways to do this is by meeting individuals where they are, looking to create and expand opportunities for people not just now, but for generations in the future.
To assume a position of humility while promoting efforts of servant leadership.
Troy understands that leadership isn't just about having a team and being its champion. He understands that leadership requires you to actively practice humility, to lead by example, and to share experiences that create long-lasting takeaways which develop and transform other leaders. From his perspective, the definition of a great leader are the precise qualities exhibited by an effective and dynamic servant leader, and Troy supports and embodies such theory.
To bolster support for the advocacy of the voiceless.
Troy understands that everyone is not born with the same resources and starts from the same origins. Because of this dynamic, it is important for those who lack the platform or the tools for amplification, to share their voices and experiences with their communities to develop, create, and preserve resources for themselves and their neighbors. Troy seeks to advocate and support any effort looking to increase equity in society through these dimensions.
To engage and inform citizens in the community.
Troy understands that civic efficacy can be an entangled web of civic apathy, complex bureaucracy, and tireless hours of human effort. But, Troy believes in creating avenues for people to digest information in today’s modern technology, and walk away with meaningful and transformative insights. He also believes that such insight promotes civic integrity, and an ever-evolving participation in democracy.
To develop partnerships that work to fill needed gaps.
Troy understands that holes in the tapestry of our communities create opportunities for individuals to fall, and such holes create generational disparities in families’ health, finances, and social capital. In order to fill such holes, partnerships between members of the community, and organizations looking to create equity are necessary. Troy has a firm belief in this need, which is why one of his goals in developing communities is to help facilitate the connections for citizens and meet the need.
.
To make society better one community at a time.
Ultimately, Troy understands that civic engagement, equity generation, and the increased inclusion of diverse people groups does not happen all at once. Troy works, through a continuous application of compassion and intention, to fight for the underdog and overcome barriers of entry into the civic marketplace. Through this digital destination, each personal interaction, and any other venue Troy creates space in, Troy exercises an unequivocal belief in making society better one community at time. Because it starts with one person, encouraging others to ignite and feed the flame for justice.
